The trends of today are made up of a melting pot of fashion from the past decades. Many of the fashion trends seen today can be traced back to the iconic decades of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

   Nostalgia from the late 1900s comes in many different forms of style now, whether it be pants, hair, or accessories. 

   One of the ever-changing fashion trends nowadays is the style of pants, jeans, or bottoms. From the 80s, this generation has taken the loose, baggy fit jeans and added their own spin.

   What once were parachute pants, current generations have adopted that idea and changed it ever so slightly. Back then, it was more popular to be baggy towards the thighs, and fitted towards the shins. Now, the entire leg is wide and loose.

   The revival of these jeans sparked nostalgia among 70s babies: their teenage years are coming back to haunt them… but in the form of their own children’s clothes.

   Another currently popular type of pants are the flared style, which originally come from the 70s. Also known as bell bottoms, these pants come in many different forms, but most commonly come in either denim or stretchy fabric. The flared pants can be seen in leggings, yoga pants, jeans, sweatpants, and more.

   In addition to bottoms, many of the common hairstyles of today have influence from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. During these decades, but more specifically the 80s, hair crimping played a big role in being caught up with the trends. Hair crimping has made a gradual but distinct return in beauty today, as it can be seen to be making a noticeable impact on popular cosmetic companies like Revlon. 

   Finally, the return of accessories. Remember those leg warmers from the 80s? They are coming back into fashion as part of a popular aesthetic. While during their peak, leg warmers were often colorful and bold; today’s leg warmers tend to take on a more neutral and muted color palette. 

   The nostalgia these trends bring back are bound to have late 1900s babies either thankful to relive their childhood and teenage years, or begging for a new set of fashion trends to come along.
