But this winter has ended and spring brings life into the New Year. The huge influx of commercials have begun to  appear on ESPN, displaying perfectly green grass and pristine playing conditions for golf; advertising the  greatest golf tournament of the year.  The Masters, at the legendary Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Unlike every year, Rory McIlroy has a chance to build upon last year’s successes, and begin his reign over the PGA.

PGA point’s leader and #1 ranked player in the World, Rory McIlroy won 3 PGA Tour events last year. Taking the tour by storm last year with back to back tournament wins at the PGA Championship and British Open last summer. However to Newsome Star golfer Tyler Bakich. It’s his influence on how golfers train to compete that helps McIlroy leave a lasting mark on golf. “Three years ago [Mcilory] wasn’t athletic at all, now he is huge, healthy and changing people’s views on golf, Tyler said describing how Mcilroy’s game has changed and grown.

Rory Mcilroy’s growth in popularity and success has lead others to follow his approach. By taking weights and overall physical conditioning in golf more serious than ever before. “FSU golf is working out with football trainers during the summer, I must put on 15 pounds,” said Bakich elaborating on how his training is a direct result of Mcilroy.

Although he is the hottest golfer alive, Rory has yet to win a green jacket. A masters win, along with his other majors propel him into PGA’s number one star. But more importantly Tiger’s replacement as the face of golf.
