NBA Western Conference Playoffs Review

Golden State Warriors VS Houston Rockets- As predicted before the series, the Warriors won with relative ease. The eight seeded Rockets were far outmatched by the Warriors and it showed. The Warriors won the series 4-1, which probably would’ve been a sweep if MVP Stephen Curry wasn’t injured in games one and two. Currys injury was the main storyline of the series, as a sprained right knee in game four will probably keep him out of the beginning of next series. Rockets superstar James Harden played admirably but didn’t receive much help from teammates. Curry’s teammates stepped up big time in his absence, as All Stars Draymond Green and Klay Thompson led the way.

San Antonio Spurs VS Memphis Grizzlies- Like the previously mentioned Warriors series, the Grizzlies were facing a far superior team and would need a miracle to win even a game. The Grizzlies normally would’ve put up a better fight, but they were more ravaged by injuries than any other team in the league. Former all star, and starting point guard Mike Conley was out, along with former All Star Marc Gasol after he broke his foot. The Spurs swept the Grizzlies without much competition as Kawhi Leonard and Lamarcus Aldridge were dominant.

Oklahoma City Thunder VS Dallas Mavericks- Another series, another predictable outcome. The veteran Mavericks showed resiliency all season long as longtime coach Rick Carlisle squeezed all the talent out of that roster he could. But squeezing talent doesnt work in the playoffs when matched up against superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The Mavericks stole game two in Oklahoma City to give the team some confidence, but it translated into nothing as the Thunder won the next three. After Mavericks GM Mark Cuban said before game five that Russell Westbrook “Isn’t a superstar,” longtime teammate Durant defended Westbrook. When discussing Cuban he commented “He’s an idiot.”
