Breaking Bad is back, following the adventures of Saul Goodman, a fan-favorite with an interesting backstory.

Better Call Saul is the new hit series that is a spinoff to the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad, which was following man who was dying from cancer and needed extra money. To get to his goal, he started selling drugs which was a big jump from being a chemistry teacher to being a drug dealer.

The shocking and suspenseful aura brings in fans excited and hungry for more. Better Call Saul leaves a raw atmosphere that Breaking Bad managed to capture. It leads up to the series from six years prior, and focuses on a lawyer named Jimmy McGill.

Saul Goodman wasn’t always Saul Goodman. Before he was known as Jimmy McGill. He is a winner for low-income clients, with his high morals and conscience becoming a hindrance.

Bob Odenkirk does an excellent job expressing many emotions, often dramatic nonetheless, but all together makes up a very complex character known as Jimmy McGill. Surprisingly it even rounded a total of 15.6 million viewers the night it premiered.

Compared to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul is more of a comedy and drama. It has a more of a funny aspect for topics which makes it differ from Breaking Bad.

Better Call Saul starts off just like Breaking Bad did: with a problem. It leaves viewers intrigued and wondering what will happen next. It pulls you in, and just like that you’re hooked.

The first episode starts out in black and white and left me really confused on what was going on. Then it cuts to Better Call Saul commercials, and I can sort of guess that this foreshadows for the future episodes.

Not to mentioned I loved how it made me laugh, and wasn’t gloomy like how I imagined it to be. Instead, it drew me in to where I couldn’t stop watching, and anticipating the next episode.

As a fan of Breaking Bad, I am pleasantly surprised on how the first episode went. I was not expecting for it to live up to Breaking Bad, but hey, I’m not complaining.

Even though we already know Jimmy McGill is going to be a huge lawyer, it is interesting to see his rise to the top. Even though some of the stuff he does and say is questionable, I couldn’t help but root for him.

The time is spaced out, which leads up to a climactic episode once viewers realizes the time is aligned to the random screenshots of irregular bits of future events. The pace is quicker, and to me that draws me in more since you are instantly enraptured. Not to mention how I love that it does not carry the same storyline of Breaking Bad. The storyline stands alone, and you don’t even need to be a Breaking Bad fan to love it.

Overall, it is a great show to spend your Friday night watching after recovering from a tiresome day at school. Humor, anticipation, and action all packed into one series. Who needs more?
