Goodreads is the most popular app that readers use to track their reading. Goodreads is a social platform that is open for readers to rate and review books, make lists of books to be read, and connect with other readers.
It is hard for some readers to get into Goodreads, and some people just do not prefer this type of platform. Here are some other apps for all of the Goodreads haters out there.
First is an app called Candl. What is special about Candl is that it is for personal use and there is no community aspect to it. This is just for the reader to track and rate books with full privacy and no other readers viewing their account.
The second app recommendation is Litsy. Litsy is just like instagram, but mainly for book related posts. Imagine the “Bookstagram” side of Instagram if it had its own app. Readers are able to post pictures with captions and it is very community based. This is similar to Goodreads for the community, but different because of all of the Instagram features like photos, captions, and likes.
Next there is Libib. This app is simply used for creating collections of books, music, games, and movies. It is cloud synced so if the app is on more than one device, the collections are on all of the devices that have the app.
Another app is Bookworm. It is a community based platform without the specifics that Goodreads has. It is almost like a book themed X (previously known as Twitter), with little posts with short comments, ratings, and covers of the book to share. This is a fun app because readers get to design their own worm as their profile icon.
Finally there is Bookly and Book Breeze. These two apps are similar for they both track how much time a reader reads during the day, week, and month. They keep progress on the books that a reader is currently reading too.
Obviously, there are more options to just these apps. Nothing is stopping readers from keeping a list of the books they have read on paper, or journaling each book. There are even reading journals available for purchase to keep it organized.
If Goodreads is not what a reader is looking for, there are many more places to keep track of books read, quotes loved, lists made, and many other opportunities.
