The Game Awards is an event that has taken place yearly for the past 10 years. It features the host, Geoff Keighley, announcing various awards for gaming. Alongside these awards are usually game companies announcing whole new titles and large DLCs. 

   With this year’s show being the 10th anniversary, it is expected to be a larger scale show, and many celebrity appearances have already been teased. The show is being hosted both in person and online, and millions are expected to watch the show. 

   The nominees for the biggest award, Game of the Year, are quite a variety of different games. Astro Bot, which is a platforming adventure game. Balatro, which is a poker roguelike style game. Black Myth: Wukong, which is a souls-style game. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, which is a large expansion of the critically acclaimed Elden Ring. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is a continuation of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series. And Metaphor ReFantazio, a fantasy turn-based role playing game. The winner of the awards will be announced when the show airs live on the night of December 12, 2024.
