As the Newsome school year begins to end, many of the upperclassmen are beginning to find themselves preoccupied with thoughts of graduation, picking of college dorms, and the highly anticipated prom. With its staple in American culture and being a major marker of the high school experience, many find themselves preparing for the night months in advance.
In a survey conducted in March, the most popular colors for dresses were blue, red, white, and purple. On the lower ends of the polls 21 percent of those planning on wearing dresses that were either black, green, or pink, while 7 percent of students polled stated they had not chosen a color yet.
The most popular style of dress, tying at 28 percent each was long and off the shoulder dresses. Following behind in 2nd place corset top dresses, claiming a respectable 14 percent of those interviewed. In third, 7 percent of those surveyed reported to be attending the prom in a-line dresses, while the remaining 7 percent again reported to not have anything yet chosen.
Finally while many have their dream dress in mind a reported 35 percent had not purchased their dresses at the time of the survey.
Prom season is deeply coveted, especially in America, and is one of the biggest nights in many teens’ lives. Marking the end of high school and the start of a new chapter the dance is a perfect close to a 13 year chapter in a students life.
