J.Cole released his newest album “Might Delete Later” as a surprise on Thursday night. This album’s run time is 43 minutes and consists of 12 tracks.
This is J.Cole’s seventh studio album and his first album since his latest release of “The Off-Season” which came out in 2021. Most importantly this album follows the release of Future and Metro Boomin’s most recent album “We Don’t Trust You,” in which featured artist Kendrick Lamar disses J.Cole and Drake. In “We Don’t Trust You” Kendrick Lamar features on the sixth track of the album titled “Like That.” On this track Lamar comes attc J.Cole and Drake.
The reason Lamar felt the need to do this was because on Drake’s album “For All the Dogs” J.Cole has a feature on the track “First Person Shooter” where he states, “Love when they argue the hardest MC, Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?” He then finishes by saying, “We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.” Lamar took this as a diss because J.Cole said he was the best rapper out of the three, and eight-months later Lamar responded with his diss “Like That.”
After the diss J.Cole released his album less than a month later. On Cole’s final song “7 Minute Drill” he responds to Lamar’s diss. On This diss Cole says Lamar “Fell off like the Simpsons.” He says if Lamar never came at him we wouldn’t still be talking about him. What most people are confused about is that J.Cole said Lamar’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly” was boring when it is one of if not the most critically acclaimed albums of all time.
The Lamar and Cole beef is very back and forth, and Lamar will more than likely respond to Cole soon.
