The New York Times (NYT) Games are taking over the world. Specifically, Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword. 

   The NYT has mini games for people to play daily. The games consist of using strategic thinking to do different puzzles, and each day brings a new puzzle for each mini game. Millions of people play these games every day to compete with friends, take a break from work, or just to have a little fun. Fun is hard to find, however, because on some days, the games are extremely difficult. 

   The easiest game of the three is Wordle. This specific game became popular in the beginning of 2022. Since then, more and more people have begun playing. The point of the game is to guess an unknown five letter word in only six guesses. After each guess, the letters used will be a different color to give the player more hints on what the word is. If a letter is gray, it is not in the word. A yellow letter means that it is in the mystery word but not in the correct position, and a green letter says that it is in the word and in the correct position.

   There is a new word for people to guess everyday and it brings out a competitive side in people to see who can get the word in the least amount of guesses. Most of the time, this game is always won, but there are some tricky days where there can be up to three of the same letter in a word, and people do not know until they lose.

   Another popular game is the Mini Crossword. The Mini is just a small version of the crossword and it is popular because it is less intimidating than the normal sized one. There are plays on words, phrases, and many different answers that fit in the spaces. Luckily, for those who are extra challenged, there is an auto-check to see which letters are incorrect if there is something wrong in the puzzle. This puzzle is timed and can be finished in as little as 30 seconds or as long as 10 minutes.

   Finally, the game that is all the rave right now is Connections. Connections is a semi-complicated game and has the biggest fail rate. To play the game, players are given 16 tiles with different words on them and they must find the four categories that connect four of the words. Once completed, there are four categories with four tiles that match the category. There are four levels of difficulty in the categories with yellow being the easiest, then green, blue, and finally purple as the hardest. Players only get four tries/lives to guess a category wrong before the game is over. If a category is guessed correctly, nothing happens to the amount of lives.

   These games are taking over the world because they are played by young and old alike, and there are posts on posts of the daily games. There are even people who have become content creators on TikTok who only play the NYT Games.
