At times of boredom, fashion emergency, loneliness, and other such situations, you will find yourself painting your nails. But of course just a monochrome or french tip style is not going to cut it. You deserve something delightfully delicate, yet not too elaborate that you give up halfway through. So, what is the solution? Heart nails. Perfect for incompetence and compliments. These nails require only a couple materials, a bit of time, and at least one non-shaky hand.
Materials:
2 different colors of nail polish
A piece of scratch paper
(that is it)
Instructions:
- Take your two nail polish colors of choice, and swatch them on your scratch paper. This is to ensure not only that the colors work well together, but to see which color the heart and background should be.
- The lighter color should be used as a background, with the darker one being the heart, however this is just to provide the easiest process, of course the colors can be reversed, it is just simpler to put dark on light than the other way around.
- Take your background color and paint however many coats needed on each of your nails and allow time to dry.
- If you get a bit of polish on, or over your cuticles, you can use nail polish remover to clean it up. But that is the obvious solution, the lazy and more life-fulfilling solution is to wait until after your nails are dry and peeling off the dried polish.
- After allowing time for your nails to dry, take your second color, and you can start painting the hearts.
- To paint the hearts, take the polish applicator and make two strokes at an angle, forming an almost “V” shape. Then fill it in a little, until it starts forming a heart shape. Practice on your scratch paper first if you need.
- Depending on your applicator size, you will be able to paint one or two hearts on each nail.
- Repeat steps five through seven for each nail, and after allowing time to dry, you now have heart nails.
- Now you can show them off to friends, family, cats, dogs, and strangers in the elevator, just make sure to turn your hand the right way, or they will look like spades without handles.
