The spring semester has officially begun at Newsome. Students are slowly readjusting to their schedules after a much needed two week break. Athletes are getting back into routine for an upcoming season. With that, coaches are preparing for another year with their players; one in particular who has been a part of these preparations is Coach Rohrberg.
Being a teacher here for the past 10 years, he has been the Varsity Baseball head coach for the entirety of his time at Newsome. Coach Rohrberg describes how he, “…loves the sport, the competition, [and] working with the guys,” as they train for the multitude of games throughout the season.
Looking back at last year’s season, he reminisces on, “…making it to the semifinals of the Saladino tournament,” with the players, as well as, “…winning 17 games and going on to see many of the guys play in college.” The comradery of the team helps to boost morale and carry them through a rigorous season.
For this upcoming year specifically, Coach Rohrberg hopes to, “…win districts and advance to regionals, [seeing] how far [they] can go from there.” He has high hopes for the team as they slide their way into the 2024 season.
