Abstract. Personalized. Creative. Want a keychain that can be described as all three? Look no further. Sometimes the best keychains can be found right under your nose. Using ordinary objects, you can make wonderfully unique and interesting keychains. Simple items like bottle caps and safety pins, with a little bit of paint and beads, can make fun decorations to hang on your backpack or car keys. It is also a good way to reuse unwanted trinkets gathering dust in your room. Especially when you happen to own about 452 bottle caps, and 27 safety pins.
Materials:
1 bottle cap
1 safety pin
Assorted bead
Assorted paint
Keyring
1 jump ring
A nail
A hammer
Instructions:
- Collect your materials
- Take the bottle cap, nail, and hammer. Using the nail, hammer a hole into the inside edge of the bottle cap.
- Take your chosen paint colors, and paint a design on your bottle cap that should now have a hole in it. It does not have to be a complicated design, it can be a simple flower or star pattern, or even just a singular color.
- Now attach the bottle cap to the keyring, using the jump ring to connect the two. Half of your keychain is now complete.
- For the other part, take your safety pin, and assorted beads. Pick out some beads to fill your safety pin.
- Most pins can fit about three or four beads, but if that feels too stingy, use multiple safety pins in your keyring, for optimal bead capacity. Nobody is stopping you, there is no limit to how creative you can get with this keychain. Besides, you have to get rid of your 27 safety pins somehow.
- After deciding how many safety pins you want, you can now add the pins to the keyring, by sliding it on. And you are left with an abstract, personalized, and creative keychain. Place your new accessory on a bag, your car keys, give it as a gift, or just hang it in your room.
