The fall semester has begun to wind down for many sports, but not all. Some are in the beginnings of their 23-24 season, such as the boys soccer team. Their coach, Coach Ware, is in full gear for the year to ensure the success of each of his players.
Teaching at Newsome for 11 years, Coach Ware has been the boys soccer coach his entire time at the school. He intermittently was also the boys golf and tennis coach. Soccer, however, was the one that seemed to stick.
He reminisces on last year’s amazing season, as the boys had made it all the way to the state championships. Moving into the new year is a little bit different, as they have a completely new team since they had, “…lost 18 players from the year before”. Coach Ware is excited to see, “…where [they] can go and how far [they] can go,” through the season with a fresh set of players.
The biggest rivals for the team seem to be the classics for many teams at the school, Bloomingdale and Riverview. Coach Ware has faith that his team will pull through against other schools.
The overall goals remain the same each year, but this one seems to bring a new sense of hope for the coach as upcoming games such against Lennard and Bloomingdale take place.
