Earrings are often meant to be an accessory to an outfit. The compliment to the main piece. But what if earrings were the main piece? Felt earrings are a fun way to make any outfit stand out as well as add that little spark of magic your wardrobe is missing. They are easy to make, only requiring a bit of felt, glue, sewing, and creativity. Below are instructions for creating a pair of felt pumpkin earrings, and, like how they got Cinderella to her ball, they will get anyone to their peak style.
Materials:
Pair of dangling earring bases
2 open jump rings
2 eye pins
Pliers
All purpose crafting glue
Orange and Green felt fabric
Orange sewing thread(optional)
A sewing needle(optional)
Sewing pin
Scissors
Paper
Pencil
Instructions:
- Collect your materials.
- Take the paper and pencil, and draw a pumpkin shape onto a piece of paper, however big you want the earrings to be(It does not need to be detailed, this is just a stencil for cutting out the felt).
- Cut out the paper stencil and pin it to the felt. Use it to cut out six pumpkin shapes, four orange and two green.
- You should now have two green pieces and four orange pieces. Cut the stems off of the orange pieces.(So when you sandwich the green pieces in between the orange pieces, the green will peek out to create the stem).
- Take two orange pieces, and embroider the wrinkles of the pumpkin with the orange thread and needle. (This is an optional step, if you can not embroider, it is okay, the embroidery just makes a more detailed pumpkin).
- Take the green pieces and using the craft glue, attach the eye pins to the back of the green pieces.
- Glue the two orange pieces to both sides of the green pieces, for each green piece. Make sure all pieces are aligned and are flush against each other.
- Allow these to dry.
- Take the open jump rings, the pair of dangling earring bases, and pliers. Using the pliers, to assist, use the jump rings to connect the earring bases to the eye pins.
- Now, you have two completed felt pumpkin earrings. Wear as you like, and show off your creative expertise to all those around you. But stay humble, bragging about pumpkin earrings is a bit ridiculous.
