Halloween is here, which means it is time to snuggle up in the heat and read a spooky book.
Released in 2021, “Room Service” by Maren Stoffels should be at the top of readers’ to-be-read list. Four teenagers are celebrating their friend’s birthday in a hotel. With no parents around, they are to have fun and make memories, making this the best birthday celebration ever. Something happened last year, though, that the friends know not to speak about. When messages are left on their door and someone outside of the group shows they know the truth, the friends must fend for their lives.
As quoted by Barnes & Noble as the “King of Horror,” Stephen King knows how to bring the thrill. With over 50 books, a separate pen name, and more than 200 short stories, King has plenty of experience in writing. His books are highly rated with a ton of horror, thrill, and spooky elements. If someone is looking for a longer, detailed, and intriguing read, they should pick up a King book.
With a prize big enough to change a life, the challenge is simple. Hide in an amusement park for a week and do not get caught. Hiding seems simple enough for Mack, the main character in this novel, for it is the reason she is alive. When people start disappearing and it is clear there is nowhere to run, Mack thinks it would be better to work with other players in order to survive. In the novel “Hide” by Kiersten White, creating a team may be the thing that keeps Mack alive, but could also be the thing that gets her caught.
Recently released novel “Find Him Where You Left Him Dead” is already spooky based on the title. Author Kristen Simmons wrote this novel about a group of five friends who unknowingly play a deadly Japanese game in a cave. Four kids left the cave and decided to never speak of what happened that day. Four years later, however, the friend they left for dead comes back and tells the teens that they must finish the game or he will be gone forever. The group must enter an underworld/alternate reality to finish the tasks and save their friend.
Stay under the covers and keep all lights on while reading these books.
