Marvel’s Disney Plus series “Loki” has received another season, and the public is fairly mixed on whether it is good or bad, with the majority leaning towards the show being bad.
“Loki” follows the titular character following the events from “Avengers: Endgame.” In the first season, Loki was captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and, to stay alive, agreed to help them stop an alternate version of himself from destroying the timeline. He eventually escapes with the other Loki and together, with the help of Mobius M. Mobius, they find the true leader of the TVA and kill him, which opens the door to the multiverse. The new season follows the plot after the events of the first season, with Loki and his crew trying to fix time.
The first season of “Loki” was not received well by the audience and remains one of the lowest rated shows on Disney Plus, alongside “The Book of Boba Fett” and “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Over the course of 2022 and 2023, people have lost interest in Marvel properties and have begun to ignore everything they do, or make fun of them. Even stalwart Marvel fans are questioning the company’s future. People are especially critical of the amount of visual effects used in their products.
While the public opinion of the shows has gone down, many still agree that there are some good shows as well, such as “Wandavision” and “The Mandalorian.” More recently, with shows like “Ahsoka,” people have begun to hope that there may be more good shows in the future. Marvel has also released big hits such as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The public has begun to gain hope that Marvel can step up their game and return to their old glory.
Still, Marvel faces a difficult path to regain the favor of the public. Most of their recent movies were colossal failures such as “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” and “Thor: Love and Thunder,” with the general opinion of these movies being mostly negative. Additionally, their main competitor, DC, has released more successful movies over the past few years with “The Batman” and “Justice League” being largely more successful than Marvel’s. Still, with DC’s “The Flash” being a massive failure, Marvel may be able to take the lead once more.
People hope that “Loki” will get better as it goes on, but many argue that it will not get better and remain the same the whole time, bringing disappointment with it. However, with more eyes on Marvel than before, they may just be able to win back the hearts of their fans and provide a good, quality show that people will enjoy.
