As we get back into the swing of things for this year’s 23-24 school year, the sports here at Newsome are beginning to ramp up. Players have begun training for the season and coaches are preparing their teams for upcoming games.
One coach in particular whose team is a part of this year’s roster of fall sports is Coach Peters.
Now, Coach Peters is not always known as a coach around the halls of Newsome. Mostly, he is recognized as the friendly face that greets students as they come in and out of the gates each day. He is the man on the golf cart that can always provide a helpful tip on where to find a class or simply a cheerful smile for the day.
Coach Peters is also the head of Newsome’s Varsity Girls Golf team. When he is not spotted around campus, he spends time planning for the success of his team this year.
As a member of the staff who has been here since Newsome first opened its gates, he was originally the boys golf coach. He then switched over to run the girl’s team, finding a strong community there.
For this upcoming golf season, Coach Peters can’t wait to, “… see what our school can do against other teams.” Next semester, he will be switching gears to coach the Girl’s Tennis Team. Overall, he has high hopes for this year and is ready to get back into the swing of things. Let’s welcome both Coach Peters and his teams back for another great year.
