Debra Tries:Panera Bread

My dinner from Panera Bread consists of Potato soup in a bread bowl, a steak sandwich, two pieces of bread and a Coke. Eating this was definitely an experience, but not a great one.

Hello, and welcome to “Debra Tries…” The series where I review topics and activities that I would not normally take part in on a normal day. For example, I will listen to music, watch movies, TV shows, play video games and even eat foods that lie outside my comfort zone. Today’s topic: Panera Bread.

I have never told anyone before, but in the 17 years I have lived on this Earth, I have never eaten food from “Panera Bread”.  I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out. As a child, I was a very picky eater, like I only ate pizza and chicken nuggets. Therefore, soup in bread bowls never sounded appealing. So of course today’s task was to try food from the famous “Panera Bread.”

The night did not start out great, however. After I ordered my potato soup bread bowl and steak sandwich, I sat in my car for 30 minutes waiting for my food. They only brought it out when I called and complained.

When I finally got home, I was so ready to have dinner. I got a Coke out of the fridge, took my food out of the bag and began. After I carefully poured the potato soup into the bread bowl, I took my first bite and… oh my god was this the worst thing I have ever tasted. It tasted so slimy and chunky at the same time. I wanted to gag right then and there.

Long story short, I never took another bite of the soup again. Next was the sandwich, which was surprisingly okay. Could have been better but at least it was edible. Though I have to give credit where credit is due, the bread was awesome, the best part of the meal.

I spent the remainder of the night eating the rest of the bread(and my rest of my mom’s bread as well) until I got full. Basically, I had half a steak sandwich and bread for dinner(very healthy indeed). When I was done, I poured the potato soup back into its plastic bowl, gave the soggy bread bowl to my dog and gave the soup to my grandma.
