What is happening in Coachella?
April 28, 2019
Weekends of Coachella, a major music festival, have come to a close.
Coachella is an annual event that attracts thousands of people, as well as many huge artists and bands that come to perform. One aspect of Coachella that is almost, if not as, necessary as the music is the outfits. The festival is known for the crazy outfits that are worn there.
Many people look at Coachella as the event that sets the trends for the rest of the year. Whether it is giving exposure to favorite new bands, or showing off the latest styles, many draw inspirations from Coachella.
Another reason Coachella is such a notable event among many people is because of the significant celebrity appearance. Famous Instagram accounts are filled with pictures of the festival and the many activities associated with it.
Many consider Coachella as the first Indie musical festival in the world, but it has grown so much since then. The festival began on October 9-10, 1999, headlined by Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Tool, Morrissey and Rage Against the Machine. The goal was to replace festivals with a more European style, and smaller crowds. The event did not occur in 2000 but has been annual since it started back up in 2001.
Now, Coachella is put on each April and has over 500,000 people in attendance. It is held in the barren desert landscape of the Coachella Valley, which is located near Palm Springs, California. It is a three-day event, with one main headliner each day, along with over 50 smaller performers putting on shows throughout the day.
In 2019 the three main headliners are Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande. Other notable artists attending are Billie Eilish, Khalid, Kid Cudi, Kanye West and the 1975. This lineup was announced back on January 3 and has been highly anticipated ever since.
The tickets for this event are also widely sought after, and most of the prices are well over $300 for the three-day weekend. This year’s events was one for the books and has been widely documented on social media by a large number of influencers that went.
