Tiger Woods is Back on Top of his Game
April 28, 2019
Sunday afternoon, Tiger Woods, who is debated to be one of the greatest golfers of all time, won the Masters, which is one of the four major tournaments in professional golf. This is not Woods’s first victory at the Masters, where he has won five masters tournaments and has five green jackets. With his fifth victory, he is one win away from tying Jack Nicholas, with six Masters tournament wins.
This victory is unique for many different reasons. This is the first major tournament win, which ended the 11-year drought that Woods has had since is US Open victory in 2008. His drought was earmarked with both personal and physical setbacks, which makes his fight back to the top that much more special. He has proven that anyone can overcome adversity with the right mindset, which shows him to be one of the all-time greatest.
What makes this win special is that he was embraced by his son, Charlie, his daughter Sam, and his mom, Kultida. This is very emotional for Woods because the last time that he won the Masters, he was embraced by his father, who passed away in 2006.
“I think this is a very inspirational win. With everything that has happened in his life since his last victory this is a statement to the game of golf, putting him down as the greatest of all time,” said Cade Afeld, a junior at Newsome.
Not only has Tiger won 5 Masters tournaments, but he also has ten other major PGA wins, where he stands second in all-time professional golf tournament wins, 80, trailing being Sam Snead H, with 82.
With his victory at the Masters, Tiger Woods is the betting favorite, where he heads into the PGA Championship next month. This victory would be huge for Woods, where he would get back into the rhythm of winning as he did years ago.
“I have been a Tiger Woods fan since I was a kid. Watching Tiger win the Masters and being favored to win in the PGA Championship, it is a surreal moment,” said Sawyer Smith a junior.
