Week 2 NFL Recap
September 29, 2017
With week two of the 2017 NFL season in the books, there are still many questions marks around the league after various surprises and disappointments.
Nothing was more surprising last week than the New York Giants losing yet another game with another nonexistent performance from their offense in a home loss to the Detroit Lions. “I am very surprised by the Giants horrid start because they were heavily favored to start the year and acquired play makers in receiver Brandon Marshall and Evan Engram alongside star Odell Beckham Jr. ,” stated senior Ryan O’Sullivan.
While in the AFC, the New England Patriots showed why they are defending champs rebounding from their loss to the Chiefs by with an obliteration of the New Orleans Saints.
Meanwhile Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt has suddenly become a fantasy caliber breakout player. “As a rookie picked in the third round and not the anticipated starter when he was drafted, he certainly is off to a breakout year,” added O’Sullivan.
As the season was still very young in week two, there was a plethora of players themselves underachieving. “I feel Legarrette Blount was one of the bigger disappointments last week when he recorded less than five total yards of offense. After leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns a season ago, I expected more from him,” claimed senior Josh Quiggle.
The upcoming weeks will continue to step forward towards discovering who will make the NFL
playoffs this season. Although it’s way too early, some teams are beginning to stand out. “I still see the Patriots coming out of the AFC because their team is even better on paper than last year and the injury to safety Eric Berry hurts the Chiefs,” added O’Sullivan.
In the NFC the conference seems to be a lot more wide open. “My favorite is the Atlanta
Falcons to come out of the NFC because they are the most complete team,” concluded Quiggle.
