Taylor Swift has been re-recording her first six albums to have official ownership of them. The next album fans are expecting Swift to release is her sixth studio album ‘reputation.’ The issue surrounding this release is that fans cannot seem to figure out when the re-record is being announced or released.
After ‘1989 Taylor’s Version’ was announced in August then released in late October, fans have been speculating when ‘reputation Taylor’s Version’ will make its headline.
The theory to start with is the one that claims ‘reputation’ is next on the re-record list. In her “Karma” music video, Swift had easter eggs hidden throughout to show each album being re-recorded. A few easter eggs pointed to ‘reputation’ being the next album after ‘1989,’ so there is almost full confirmation on that.
To add, when Swift is transitioning to a new era, her Instagram page matches the vibe and color scheme to the album that is coming. After her posts for Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” photoshoot, the instagram is forming a dark, black theme, pointing towards ‘reputation Taylor’s Version.’
Now comes the question that has yet to be answered: when is ‘reputation Taylor’s Version’ being announced and released? There have been multiple theories in relation to this question.
The first theory indicated that the announcement would be on Nov. 26 at her concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil. People thought this would be the announcement day because it was Swift’s last show of the year. It would be a great ending to the 2023 leg of The Eras Tour, and leave fans happy until the release date.
Another string that connected the announcement to Nov. 26 was the timing between album release and the next album announcement. The ‘Speak Now Taylor’s Version’ release date and the announcement for ‘1989 Taylor’s Version’ were a certain number of days apart, so people thought the same pattern would apply to ‘1989’ and ‘reputation.’ Needless to say, fans were wrong and left with nothing after the end of the 2023 Eras Tour.
The next theory is based on Swift dropping ‘reputation Taylor’s Version’ with no announcement on New Year’s Day. While this theory is less acknowledged, some fans think Swift will release the album on the first of the new year because on ‘reputation,’ there is a song called “New Years Day” and one of Swift’s mottos for the album is “there will be no explanation, just be reputation.” Which leads to the theory that she will have no explanation and just release ‘reputation Taylor’s Version.’
Finally, there is the most logical (as of right now) fan theory. That is that there will be some kind of announcement- or actual release- of reputation in February 2024. In the “Karma” music video, there is a scene where one of Swift’s nails is painted blue for ‘1989 Taylor’s Version’ and another is black for ‘reputation Taylor’s Version’ and they are holding a cup with latte art of a clock. The blue nail is at the eight on the clock, and the black nail is at the two. Swift announced ‘1989 Taylor’s Version’ in August (the eighth month), so fans suspect something relating to ‘reputation Taylor’s Version’ is coming sometime in February.
Swift has her fans on the edge of their seats, it is just a matter of when she wants to leave fans shocked.
