“Enola Holmes 2” is the sequel to the first Enola Holmes movie starring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, released on Nov. 4.

During the film, Enola is close to closing her newly opened detective agency in London when an unexpected girl, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, asks Enola to solve the case of her missing sister. Serrana Su-Ling Bliss and her missing sister both work in a matchstick factory.

Along with her brother, Sherlock Holmes, played by Henry Cavill, Enola goes through countless schemes and investigations throughout the movie. Upon investigation, the case leads into a dangerous conspiracy based on the 1888 matchgirls’ strike.

The Enola Holmes series is based on the “Enola Holmes Mysteries” written by Nancy Springer. “Enola Holmes 2” is loosely based on the second book in the series, “The Case of the Left-Handed Lady.” The graphic novel “Enola Holmes Mycroft’s Dangerous game” was released on Aug. 23 as a bridge between Enola Holmes and the sequel.

In “Enola Holmes 2,” the political movements within women’s rights are explored similarly to the first movie. Enola is portrayed as an intelligent, robust female role model that fights for women’s rights along with many other female characters in the film.

“Enola Holmes 2” was just as poignant as the first and left the audience with the same satisfaction from the solved case to the romance between Enola and Tewkesbury to the sibling bonding.

“Enola Holmes 2” did not miss a beat. Powerful messages were conveyed throughout the movie with the ideas of not having to be alone to be independent and to take a stand to make one’s voice heard for the system to change.

The mystery aspect in the second movie was just as well executed as the first. Since “Enola Holmes 2” came out, it has become the number one movie on Netflix, and viewers have been raving about a possible third movie that was teased near the end.

“Enola Holmes 2” is suspenseful and spine-chilling while still exemplifying the feel-good moments of the movie. The romance in the film adds to the plot, but it doesn’t overshadow the case investigation that occurs throughout. Romance is sprinkled in just enough to give viewers a feel-good feeling while keeping the mystery in focus.

“Enola Holmes 2” is comical while also conveying powerful messages and is a must-watch for anyone.
