Midnights Mayhem

Taylor Swift is a singer/songwriter who has taken the music industry to the next level. She is the second most popular female pop artist behind Ariana Grande.
Swift started songwriting and learning music when she was young. Her first album was released in 2006 and she has been releasing music since. Swift has a total of nine albums and is releasing number 10 on Oct. 21. She is leading up to this by doing her signature easter egg posts and videos.
An easter egg is a hidden clue that has something to do with whatever it is about. For Swift, it is usually hidden details about a song or album. The start of putting easter eggs in her music started when Swift was 15 years old and has added them to every release following.
At the 2022 VMAs, Swift won video of the year for her short film for the song “All Too Well 10 Minute Version,” and announced that she made her tenth album, then gave the release date.
Fans were ecstatic when they heard this and started searching for clues immediately. What they first noticed was Swift’s dress. It was very similar to her outfit in the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video and her dress from the 2009 VMAs. Before the announcement, fans thought a re-recorded album would be next for Swift.
To start with the release of the new album Midnights, Swift held pre-orders on her website, released the cover, had three special edition types of vinyl for sale, and had a short message explaining what this album is about.
Swift also started a series on TikTok called Midnights Mayhem with me, where she uses a bingo ball cage with the numbers of the 13 tracks and tells the name of the track she pulled. The first she pulled was her lucky number, 13, which is called “Mastermind.” Swift uses a corded phone to say the name of the track, and it was also on the cover of one of her previous release posts for the album, so fans are curious about what this will turn into.
The second episode of Midnights Mayhem With Me released the title of Track 8 and there are more theories about this song than “Mastermind.” In the video, Swift says the name of the track with the phone upside down. Fans think Ariana Grande will be a feature on this song because for her album Sweetener, Grande had everything upside down, and this is the perfect hint for Swift to give for people to figure out.
The final easter egg from this new era of hers is a potential tour in 2023. In a release post from her, Swift showed the date May 13 in the background and she is always including the number 13 when she can. Also, on the Midnights Mayhem With Me title screen, only “May” is underlined in Mayhem which could mean something for May next year.
Swifties have a lot to look forward to in these upcoming months and the energy shifts with a potential tour in the future.
