Hello everyone and welcome to “Teen Witch Files”. Here I, a major skeptic in the realm of witchcraft, will do research on different topics related to the practice and relay my findings to you. Some of these topics include spell jars, hexes, lucid dreaming and reality shifting, chakra alignment, and the topic of today’s research, crystals. I promise, it will be more entertaining than it sounds.

Before we can dive into the abyss that is the extent of crystals and their uses, we must first explore the history and science behind this. That statement might be a bit confusing; how can there be anything scientific about crystal magic? I guess we’ll find out.

The first reference of crystals in terms of magic dates back to the ancient Sumerians, who used them to aid in health and protection. There is also evidence of the use of crystals in ancient Egypt for protection and health.

However, even with the use of crystals dating back this far, we know how unreliable medicine and intellect was in those times. They sacrificed humans to the gods they worshipped. Now, onto the science.

In 1880, Paul-Jacques and Pierre Curie made a huge discovery about crystals; they actually produce a charge. This confirms the preconceived notion that crystals actually have energetic frequencies.

We know that matter is almost completely empty space. This empty space is occupied by energy. Crystals are said to have stable energy frequencies that don’t change, which is why they would have such an impact on our easily influenced and unstable energy frequencies as humans.

Now that we’ve discussed a brief history and science, let’s get into a few crystals and their uses.

  1. Clear quartz.

Clear quartz is composed of silicon and oxygen, and is completely colorless. It is used for protection, removal of negative energies, and enhancing the power of other crystals. It is known as the master healer and can work under any conditions.

  1. Tiger’s eye.

Tiger’s eye forms when fibers of a mineral called crocidolite are replaced by silica. Basically, it has the same chemical compound of clear quartz but with the inclusion of iron oxide. It aids harmony and balance and is used to release fear and anxiety.

  1. Moldavite.

Moldavite is particularly special because it resulted from a meteorite impact in southern Germany around 15 million years ago. It is said to have an intense vibration you can feel when holding it. It is used to counteract cynicism, bring major changes to your life, and calm worries about money.

  1. Selenite.

Selenite is a stone made of calcium sulfate. It is used for clarity of mind and expanded self-awareness. This crystal is all about light and positivity as well as fluidity of energy. It is said to be one of the most important crystals in a collection.

  1. Black tourmaline.

Last but not least, we have black tourmaline. This crystal is made mostly of sodium and iron. It comes in many different colorful variations, but black is said to be the strongest. It is used mainly for protection and is a major absorber of negative energy.

Keep in mind that just because it’s not the practice you were raised on doesn’t make it automatically invalid. Just because you don’t believe in it doesn’t mean someone else can’t. Blessed be!
