Cavs sweep the Raptors

In a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Toronto Raptors in the second round of the playoffs.

The Cavs won the first three games in the best-of-seven series easily, winning all three by double digits. The Raptors put up a fight in game four but it was not enough to stop LeBron James and the Cavs.

James was a dominant force throughout the series scoring over 30 points in all four games as Toronto could not find a way to stop  arguably the best player in basketball.

Raptors all-star point guard Kyle Lowry injured his ankle in game two, he returned to play in game three but was forced to miss the must win game four on Sunday due to the injury. The injury forced star Demar Derozan to shoulder an even bigger load and allowed Cavs all-star guard Kyrie Irving to take over the game.

In the 4th quarter of game four, Irving scored eleven consecutive points which served as the nail in the coffin of the Raptors’ season. Without Lowry guarding him, Irving was electrifying, scoring 27 points and adding in nine assists and five rebounds to round off his stat line.

Cleveland is undefeated this postseason as they also swept the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.

This is the Cavs 11th consecutive playoff victory dating back to last season. The defending champs look like a team on a mission ready to repeat as they are just four wins away from returning to the NBA Finals for the third consecutive season.

Cleveland will play the winner of the Celtics-Wizards series in the Eastern Conference Finals. The sweep gives the Cavs a long break to rest as they will not play again until at least Monday, which is over a week since game four.
