Seven spring sojourns

A few fun ideas to fill each day of this year’s spring break

Ybor City Saturday Market: Ybor is already packed full of culture and entertainment but on Saturday mornings, they add a farmer’s market to the mix. Local vendors showcase and sell anything from bath products to dog treats and gourmet foods to jewelry.

Strawberry Festival: Plant City’s own Strawberry Festival will host its last day on Sunday, March 12. With all the attractions of a good old-fashioned carnival, displays of award-winning art, different livestock competitions, and so much more, it’s a great way to spend the day.

Alafia River State Park: Get back to nature with over 20 miles of bike and nature trails or simply observing the wildlife at this state park. What was once a phosphate mining site now houses forests, rolling hills, plenty of lakes, and an abundance of wildlife right in Lithia. Work out on the trails or just enjoy the break from school in this peaceful surrounded by a beautiful Florida landscape.

Island Ferry: Since swimming with dolphins is probably on everybody’s bucket list, this would certainly be a fun adventure during break. This company gives dolphin-snorkeling tours at Shell Key Preserve seven days a week and is in St. Petersburg under an hour away.

Tampa Museum of Art: Experience history and culture and while learning something new at an art museum during break. Special exhibits focusing on sports photography and Tampa Bay sports will be hosted during this time along with the works of artist Alex Katz.

Tampa Bay Escape Room: Ever wanted to be kidnapped or locked in a creepy cabin in the middle of the woods? Well, here’s your chance without the actual dangers of that situation. Test your mind and skill set to try to escape from those very spots while working with a group against the clock.

Movie Theater: Great new titles are out now such as Kong and Get Out or catch up on the Oscar winning movies such as Moonlight or Manchester by the Sea. Have a throwback to your childhood with Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast that comes out on March 17.
