The Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC prepare to clash in the MLS Cup Finals on Saturday at BMO Field in Toronto.

The teams are both making their first appearance in the MLS Cup Finals. They played each other once during the regular season on July 2 in Toronto. The teams drew 1-1 with Jordan Hamilton scoring for Toronto and Jordan Morris scoring for Seattle.

The weather may become a factor on Saturday as the forecast calls for freezing temperatures along with a chance of snow showers.

Eastern Conference champions Toronto FC defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-1 in the first round of the MLS Playoffs. Toronto then demolished New York City FC in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals with an aggregate score of 7-0 over the two legged home and home matchup.

Toronto FC squeaked past the Montreal Impact in a thrilling Eastern Conference Final. After losing the first leg 3-2, Toronto came back in the second leg winning 3-2 forcing extra time. Toronto forward Benoit Cheryou scored the winning goal in extra time, sending Toronto to the championship.

Toronto has been carried by superstar forward Sebastian Giovinco. Giovinco led the team in goals with 17 and assists with 15. Giovinco has also contributed during the playoffs, scoring four goals.

Forward Jozy Altidore is providing a helpful push in the playoffs, leading the team in goals with five while adding four assists.

The Seattle Sounders defeated FC Dallas in the Western Conference Semi-Finals by an aggregate score of 4-2. The Sounders then defeated the Colorado Rapids by an aggregate score of 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals.

Seattle has been led through the season by rookie forward Jordan Morris, who led the team with 12 goals during the regular season. The Sounders second leading goal scorer, Clint Dempsey, has not played since August 21 due to a heart problem.

Late season transfer Nicolas Lodeiro has provided a big boost to the Sounders. The Uruguayan midfielder leads the team in goals this postseason with five. Goalkeeper Stefan Frei has been solid this postseason. In four games, Frei has allowed only three goals while adding two shutouts.
