Newsome Band Uses Coffee to Fund Trip

After their staggering success in the 2015 Bands of America competition a few months ago, Newsome’s Band has now turned their focus to perhaps their most exciting opportunity of the year – the Macy’s Day Parade.

However, the trip is not cheap and will require fundraising. Thus, the Newsome Band have taken up selling coffee at the front of the school to cover expenses. The coffee is sold by two volunteers.

Students can order mochas, cappuccinos, and if they desire something cold, frappuccinos are also available. Prices range from 4 dollars onward.

Economics and World Religions teacher Mr. Gallimore says that the mocha is “fantastic.” Victoria Bent, Junior and band student says, “The frappuccino is really good. It’s really sweet because they put in a lot of creamer, but it’s really good.”

So far, the coffee selling tactic has been extremely successful. “We’re making a lot of money from this and I’m so excited,” says Bent.

Coffee selling in general seems to be a great strategy for raising money it seems, as we’ve seen this tactic used by ROTC and ESE students.
