A Spooktacular Event

On October 30th, Newsome held the first annual Trick-or-Treat Street. This event gave children the opportunity to play games, win prizes and collect candy from the various clubs that participated in the event.

Junior, Tim Hartung, experienced this firsthand as he worked the booth representing Latin Club. He explained that it took several weeks of preparations in order to transform Newsome into Trick or Treat Street. For Latin Club, some of these preparations included setting up the visual aspects of their booth, obtaining candy and prizes, and creating a theme and costumes to coincide with it.

Many hope to see this event take place again next year, and felt it was very successful, among these people is Hartung who says “It was definitely a success, lots of kids showed up and they seemed to have a great time.”

One improvement that could be made, according to Hartung, was the broadcasting of this occasion. He believes that more kids should be given the chance to participate, and

awareness should be spread to accumulate an even bigger crowd.

The Halloween spirit was in the air as people walked through the various haunted houses and collected candy from booths decorated with meticulous detail. Many hours were put in to make this event a success, and it was well worth it. Hundreds of kids and their families were able to enjoy the festivities.
